Learning to let go: How to throw off negative thoughts and feelings

The following meditative exercise, if used regularly, can help to let go of negative feelings and thoughts and to act more and more in everyday life from an attitude of non-judgemental observation.

Practice in mindful observation and letting go:

Step 1:
Remember something that makes you angry or sad.
Remember a particular feeling.

Step 2:
Allow yourself to notice and accept the feeling.

Step 3:
Where in the body is it?
Allow yourself to breathe freely.

Step 4:
Let go of all triggers and other thoughts and images.

Step 5:
Allow and observe what is happening.

Step 6:
What do you perceive now?

Duration of the exercise: 15-60 minutes
